Parisian Food Map

Unless you're traveling with someone like my dad, who actively goes to burger king and mcdonalds in other countries, I assume you're going to be looking for some french food while you're in Paris. So, I've compiled a French food bucketlist, complete with a map (at the bottom) to make your cheesy crepe dreams come true.

Here is your list:

1. Crepes: Yellow pins

You can find some great ass crepes at the yellow pins on the map. My personal favorite combos are nutella and banana, banana and sugar, and the classic plain cheese, which is essentially a French quesadilla.

2. Gelato/Ice Cream: Purple Pins

There are three notable places in this category: La Glace Berthillon, Amorino, and D'Allayou. Glace Berthillon has at least 20 locations, all of which are near Ile Saint Louis; they frequently have lines that run around the corner, so you know they're good. Amorino has similar lines, but they have the added benefit (and price) of being shaped like a rose (see picture on the right). D'Allayou is a cafe that isn't necessarily known for their ice cream, but as you can see from the incredible macaron sundae on the left, it's worth a stop.

3. Macarons: Magenta Pins

Ladurée is the ultimate location for macarons. They cost 2 euros a piece which is damn ridiculous, but they're worth the trip at least once. The stores are scattered around the whole city; I marked two of them with the pink pins.

4. Pastries: Green Pins

For tarts, more macarons, pain au chocolat, croissants, and other sugary diet breaking foods, go to Paul. Like Ladurée, Pauls are everywhere, but if you're directionally challenged I added three to the map in green.

5. Soufflés: Brown Pin

Don't get me wrong, this is a super touristy restaurant. I think I've heard customers speak French in there once in the 3 times I've been. Regardless, the soufflés are incredibly delicious (especially the chocolate soufflé with chocolate sauce. I dream about that shit occasionally), so you definitely need to get a reservation here during your stay.

6. Cheese: Orange Pin

You can find fromageries all over Paris (that's why it's no surprise that it's my favorite city in the world). This place has hundreds of cheeses and great reviews, so if you're looking to move beyond American and Wisconsin cheddar cheese, check it out.

7. Falafel: Blue Pin

Falafel might seem like a strange food to put on a french food bucket list, but as the French had significant influence in the middle east, the selection of falafel in Paris is pretty good. L'as du fallafel is supposed to be the best falafel place in Paris, and one of the top restaurants overall.
