Viewpoints in Lisbon

Lisbon is called the city of 7 hills, so there are plenty of high points to see the city from. Here are a few of my recommendations:

Miradouro Santa Luzia

Miradouro means viewpoint, so it's pretty obvious that the views here are going to be great. Santa Luzia was my personal favorite, just because the dome and all the rooftops added a lot to the scene.

Castelo São Jorge

Almost everyone goes here during their trip anyway since it's a cool historical site, but if you despise history and weren't planning on going, I would recommend it just for the views. The surrounding neighborhood is also fun.

Miradouro da Graça

Graça lets you see the castelo são jorge among many other things. Depending on the direction you're coming from it can be kind of a hike, but just bring a protein bar or some shit and you'll be good to go.

The Monument to the Discoveries (Padrão dos Descobrimentos)

This view is on top of the monument to the discoveries, which honors Christopher Columbus. Of course, many Americans consider him to be a murderer of indigenous communities, but the Portuguese seem to have not gotten that memo. It's fine though, because the roof of the monument, although small and rather crowded, has great unimpeded views of the Christ statue, the city, and the bridge.

Parque Eduardo VII

This park is pretty far from the main city, but if you're out that way it's definitely worth a stop, especially at sunset.

Pantheon

I really only came to the pantheon because I'm an architecture nerd, but it ended up having some cool views in addition to the architecture, and the walk back down the city was scenic too.

Here's a map to help you find all these views!
